So your Lawn is full of the dreaded Clover. Well did you know that until fairly recently, clover was not considered as a weed at all and indeed was liked by gardeners because it gave their Lawn a deeper green look.

This happens because Clover removes Nitrogen from the air and transfers it to your Lawn. In fact, some garden suppliers include Clover in their proprietary lawn mixes even today! It helps the grass grow more pest resistant, reduces the amount of fertilizer required, (so is good for the environment) and leaves the Lawn much healthier.

As a kid you probably went clover searching - looking for that one magical four-leaf charm. Seeing clover’s shamrocks and little white or pink flowers in your lawn nowadays probably doesn’t make you feel lucky anymore. Like many a perennial weed, clover can be hard to evict from your lawn.

As a result, it’s one of the most common weeds around. Even though it’s green and its flowers are, admit it, sort of cute, it attracts bees, which can be an underfoot danger, and is also quite slippery when wet, another danger.

So your probably asking what’s the best method of Killing Clover In The Lawn?

The most effective method of controlling clover is to maintain a dense and healthy turf area. Often weeds can be easily kept out if the Ph and nutrients levels are optimum. Then a cornmeal application can be use to control the weeds. Use 10 pounds per 1,000 sq ft every 120 days simply as a fertilizer as well.

Mowing height and the frequency of mowing also will deter these weeds. Clover does especially well in moist conditions and in less than optimally fertile soil. The one nutrient it really goes for is phosphorous.

So if you cut back on the water and up the level of the nutrients, other than phosphorous, that your lawn needs to thrive, your lawn will do better and weeds like clover will do worse. The best defense against any weed, clover included, is a healthy lawn.

Pulling weeds by hand also works in small lawns. Clover has a taproot you can easily dig out by hand. For spot control a little spade action is hard to beat.

In the last resort, chemical action is sometimes necessary, especially when managing large areas. Always read and follow directions on the label and keep pets and children away! Post-emergent herbicides do a great job on clover. A weed-and-feed that lists clover as among its targets will help tackle any serious clover encroachments.

Gardening here in San Diego County and around the country is more than just a weekend seasonal hobby. It is becoming a craze. Homeowners everywhere are devoted to beautifying their yards year round and they are increasingly looking for ways to maximize their efforts. Most importantly, the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides is becoming less attractive to those who garden. They seek alternative ways to grow their plants, trees, and lawns without the use of toxic pollutants. They are becoming increasingly aware of the adverse environmental impact of these products. Yard runoff flows indirectly to our oceans and seeps into the underground water supply. Chemicals pollute. Thus, people are becoming more ‘green’ minded. Hence an increasing demand for organic products. Worm castings and worm ‘tea’ are two of those products.

Worm castings are nature’s miracle fertilizer. They are the result of specialized worms eating and digesting an organic source such as manure compost. The end product is worm castings, or more simply put, worm manure. These ‘castings’ are rich in multiple nutrients and provide plants with a variety of essential elements found in nature that they need to grow. They are also an effective soil enhancer. And most importantly, they are all - natural and toxic chemical free.

In order to see first hand how this process works and how castings develop from a com-post pile to market I visited Legacy Ranch for a first hand look. Legacy Ranch is secluded in the mountains of Campo, California about 50 miles east of San Diego owned and operated by long time rancher and horse aficionado, Lonnie Sole. Lonnie is a ‘cowboy’ in the old fashioned sense and looks every bit like one. Lean and wiry, Lonnie is a no nonsense guy when it comes to ranching. He loves the solitude and beauty of country living. He is at home listening to the coyotes and other wild creatures that roam his ranch by night and attending his horses and Texas long horned cattle by day. Doesn’t really like city life at all. Now in his 60’s, he still rides horses regularly and his horses know him by sight.

More than four years ago, Lonnie got the idea of producing worm castings for commercial sale. I believe he did so out of curiosity, somewhat from the challenge, but mostly due to his growing concern over the use of polluting chemicals and their effect on the increasingly fragile soil and limited fresh water supply of our good earth. “My worm castings and ‘tea’ are nature’s miracle for growing beautiful flowers, plants, shrubs, trees, and lawns safely without toxic chemicals. Plants love it; insects hate it” says Lonnie.

It has not been an easy journey. He started from scratch and has built his operation into a major endeavor. He now estimates he has ten million worms ‘working’ for him. It is an intensely interesting operation and one full of details and watchful care.

Worms can be finicky little creatures. The wrong temperature in the beds, inappropriate food, or any little annoyance can send them scurrying away. And you don’t want to see your investment leaving home. Constant vigilance is required to feeding, moisture content of the compost, and the well being of the worms themselves.

Presently, Lonnie and his workers have three old converted chicken barns that house his worms and the castings. He has installed sprinkler systems and various pieces of equipment to minimize labor. However, worms require an intense amount of attention. There are lots of hand tools around, too.

He begins by laying out windrows of moistened composted horse manure. Each is about four to six feet wide and the length of the barn, about 200 feet or so. To this he adds his specialized worms, India Blue. They begin work immediately eating and digesting their favorite food. More compost is added to the top of the row as required and as the worms consume what they had initially been fed working their way from the bot-tom to the top of the windrow. Within four to six weeks they have converted a row of compost to rich and valuable worm castings. It is now harvest time.

Harvesting castings is done largely by hand. A new windrow of composted horse manure is laid down adjacent to the first. Feeding and watering of the initial windrow is terminated. The worms, seeking food and water, migrate from the first windrow to the new one rather rapidly. What is left in the first windrow is the sought after results of the eager worms ‘work’, rich and beneficial worm castings along with the eggs left behind to hatch later and replenish the stock.

Once the castings are harvested, they are moved to the processing barn where they must be screened. This process removes the clumps that may contain eggs and any uneaten hay or the like from the castings. The final product is a dark, rich, brown, granulated, soil like material. That is the sought after nutrient rich plant food. It has no obvious odor except that of the forest floor or a rich humus soil.

Worm castings may be bagged for direct sale or mixed with a compost to use as a planting medium. They are an excellent natural fertilizer and soil enhancer, 100 % organic, and becoming increasingly more popular in the organic gardening movement.

Last year Lonnie began a process of brewing a ‘tea’ with his castings. This is a liquid form of dry castings using natural spring water and other organic ingredients. He brews this concoction for about twenty-four hours in special tanks. He has developed a unique product and it is presently on the market under his own label, “Nature’s Big Bud Liquid Worm Castings, Premium 100% Organic Liquid Plant Food “. He also sells to other in-dependent distributors, farmers, and commercial plant growers. His product is high in microbial content attributed, according to Lonnie, to his use of pure, high quality worm castings, the natural mountain spring water and other organic ingredients he is reluctant to discuss. Trade secret. But I know that natural yucca extract is one of them. His ‘tea’ is becoming a widely sought after gardening product.

His use of natural unfiltered mountain spring water makes his product unique. He may be the only brewer doing so. This water, straight from a natural spring on the property, is pure and full of essential minerals unlike city water. It contains neither chemicals nor additives. That may be one of the keys to his product.

Recently, it has become apparent that hydroponics enthusiasts are finding ‘worm tea’ a highly proficient and effective medium for their method of growing plants. More interest in this is found in the literature of the soiless method for plant propagation and cultivation.

Lonnie swears by his ‘tea’ and he is not alone. A brief surf on the Internet and one can view hundreds of sites pertaining to worm castings and worm ‘tea’. These informative and interesting sites all have one thing in common to the gardening buff: they are gleeful in their endorsement of worm castings and worm ‘tea’. Testing has shown these unique organic and natural products to be highly beneficial. Many noted soil experts are further studying the phenomena, but most agree that there is merit in the claims even though they don’t necessarily know exactly why. There is increasing evidence that worm castings and worm ‘tea’ assist in insect control also. It is strongly believed further testing will prove that out. However, there is little dispute that worm castings and ‘tea’ work! And work well!

Lonnie is currently working on a new product which will be composed of worm castings, composted horse manure, and dry yucca extract. He hopes to market it soon and initial tests have shown it to be an excellent planting medium. Also, he touts natural yucca extract as good for the soil and plants and will soon begin marketing that as well.

I spent many hours with Lonnie discussing his love of his worm farming efforts. Sever al things were evident. Lonnie knows worms. He loves producing a product that is going to help people garden more efficiently and in a manner friendly to the environment. He is not an environmental fanatic, but he knows that chemical free gardening is preferable and somewhat inevitable. The transition to “green” gardening is here and it is real.

Lonnie loves the land and by all accounts, the land loves Lonnie. His worms are promoting a healthy, chemical free environment and that comforts him.

Me, too!

Prickly pear cactus (Opuntia ficus-indica) are useful in the landscape for dramatic impact, adding a southwestern feel to any landscape. Opuntia cactus also have edible pads and provide the red cactus pears of commerce. This cactus variety grows wild in the southwestern United States and Mexico. Prickly pear cactus have deep green branching pads, grow up to 15 feet tall and as wide around in as little as 5 years. The oval cactus pads can be up to three feet long and over a foot across.

In spring Opuntia ficus-indica gets stunning bright yellow to orange flowers measuring 3 to 5 inches across. These turn into pinkish red, edible prickly pears. Over time these cacti form brown, woody trunks. Most Opuntia varieties are not fussy about soil conditions, are cold hardy to 30 degrees below zero and many also have edible pears and pads. Cattle are also known to have a taste for Opuntia cactus and in some parts of the world it is used as feed.

Outdoors, prickly pears look especially good in silhouette against a sunset. They also make very effective security barriers. They can take regular pruning to maintain shape. Always cut at the joints, where the two pads meet. Cuttings can easily be rooted by burying part of a pad in moist, well drained soil. Opuntia species have also been known to take root where pads have fallen on the ground.

Indoors, Opuntia cactus can be grown in pots but they generally don’t grow to more than a few feet tall. They do best in full sunlight with very little water. No cacti like to be over watered and they will rot if they remain in saturated soil. Water sparingly and improve soil drainage in areas that receive a lot of rain. My cactus lets me know when it needs water with thin pads and droopy tips. One year we got over 20 inches of rain and the pads swelled up with so much moisture they broke off under their own weight.

The cactus pads do not have prominent thorns. Instead, they have clumps of small, hair-like needles. It is very easy to get the needles painfully lodged in your skin just by brushing against the pads. Usually the only way to get them out is with tweezers and a magnifying glass. It is recommend to use tongs, a large fork, or cardboard to handle any part of cactus. You should also wear leather gloves or two layers of cotton gloves. The gloves will need to be checked for thorns though, so you may want to avoid handling cacti using your hands.

Cactus pears have the texture of watermelon and a mild, sweet taste like pears or banana. They are high in fiber too. The seeds are black and about the size of a pea. You can also eat the pads raw or cooked. Young, bright green cactus pads are best for eating. Thorns should be washed or scraped off before the cactus skin is peeled. Visit http://www.theGardenPages.com for photos of prickly pears and more info on how to root cacti and succulent plants.

Prickly pear cactus (Opuntia ficus-indica) are not only beautiful, but a useful addition to any drought tolerant landscape.

Animal experts have told me that a skunk will give three signals before it sprays. Here are the signs to run for the hills before it is too late: Skunk turns it back on you, then lifts its tail, then looks over its shoulder to take aim…after that you are a goner!

I doubt that every dog learns its lesson by getting sprayed up close and personal with months to forget about the idea. With one month of suffering through the unbearable stench in our home, on the carpets, in our clothing, on the dogs themselves and on our furniture I was compelled to find the very best solution to my dilemma. Here is what I discovered:

A wonderful fellow has come up with a great solution if used immediately after mixing that seems to work miracles on the pets. I will give you that solution in a moment because he couldn’t patent it, however, I recently discovered what I think the ultimate solution will be, and that is to prevent skunks from entering the yard at all.

In nature every animal (so I believe) has a natural predator or two. One friend called to tell me that a skunk has one major predator, the Great Horned Owl. Knowing that I haven’t seen any of those creatures in my suburban neighborhood in more than ten years, I didn’t feel I could summon the Owl Gods to visit my yard. So, you are wondering if I have come up with a skunk cure, and I have. What is it you ask? It is a two part answer, and two parts because I just found one missing piece that also seems to be part of the skunk puzzle. Don’t get me wrong I have nothing personal against skunks in general, in fact I would most likely think that they were cute had it not been for the recent skunking we received. There is nothing in this world quite like an up close and personal experience with skunk juice.

No wonder skunks walk confidently through life. Perhaps we should take a lesson from them.

Here is the skunk answer that seems to be working. You can purchase a great horned own statue that will attach to gates, your roof and other areas like the top bar on a swing set. Just the site of this fake Great Horned Owl will send a skunk packing pretty quickly. The vision of an owl in the moonlight is powerful. The happy surprise that I ran across while researching skunk predators is that skunks are a delicacy for foxes. A fox will seek out skunks and destroy them, that could mean eat them. My thinking is that they eat everything except for their scent glands in the anus.

A wonderful researcher who is in the know on scent therapy has come up with a line of shaker that have the scent of a fox and other predators depending upon what garden pest you are dealing with. This mixture can be put into a nylon and hung in a tree, or for skunk it can be sprinkled in the yard on the perimeter and all around your flowers and garden where skunks dig for grubs.

The perfect dog remedy if your furry friend gets sprayed is this: Equal parts of Hydrogen Peroxide, Baking Soda, and dish soap. As soon as you blend the mixture and see it foaming, and it will definitely foam up, stick the pet into the bath and let he or she soak there. It is amazing how quickly the odor will dissipate. What I havent figured out how to remedy yet is the smell that is still coming from inside my one dog’s nose.

Tomato juice by the way, only acts to mask the smell and doesn’t really eliminate it.

So, check on line, I can’t give the company name here, for the shaker of animal scents and stop those skunks from entering your yard, destroying your garden and potentially filling your home and your pets with a potent scent that will make you want to run for the hills!

Let your privative instincts take over and listen to the fixes that nature has provided. Get yourself some of the Fox Shaker remedy and stop any skunks form entering your yard.

If you want the best looking lawn, or even just one that is good enough to look out on as you enjoy a beautiful day, you will need to put some effort in. To minimize that, mechanization could be your answer!

There are some great time-saving tools around these days, that will take the chore out of your lawn as well as getting you sitting out on it enjoying it just as soon as possible! Even if you spend laborious hours on it, it’s still possible that it won’t end up perfect, but it will look way better.

Many people begrudge the effort and time it takes. Maybe it’s these very same people who also feel aggrieved that lawn care equipment can be a bit heavy on the pocket. Like all things in life, it can be hard to get a balance between what is a reasonable expenditure and whether it is worth it in the first place - ‘What’s in it for me?’, in this investment I make!

By buying reasonable lawn care equipment, you will have every opportunity to have a beautiful lawn, if that’s what you are seeking.

So, here are some of the most important implements that will help you get the lawn you really want.

Your Lawnmower - The Most Valuable Time-Saving Power-Tool

To spend your rest time cutting a lawn laboriously, is pretty much agreed by gardeners across all spectrums as a bit of a waste of time and effort. There must be better things to do than cut a lawn without proper lawn care equipment. Only the greatest purists who nurture and worship their lawn will resist buying a pretty good lawnmower as their most vital bit of lawn care equipment

There are two ways to do this, the hard way and the easy way. The hard way is a bog-standard mower that you push along without any motorization at all, but if you want to properly care for your lawn, you’ll need a decent mower that you can use without too much effort.

Of all the lawn care equipment that’s out there, the mower is the one that you’ll get most use of and, if you choose correctly, it will be the one that makes the most impact on your lawn and saves you the most time.

If you are in doubt about which type of mower you might buy, just take a look at the lawn and areas involved. For a large, very flat lawn, you will need a powered mower, probably a sit-on one. For a small lawn, get yourself one that will cut just right for that lawn. Unless it’s to massage your ego, you don’t need a sit-on mower for a lawn the size of a postage stamp!

With lawn mowers, there are plenty of different types to be found. For a reasonable choice that isn’t too expensive, go for a pushmower, without the push. That is the self-propelled mower that is power-assisted - just helping you out when you need it and giving you the flexibility of complete control..

Edge Trimmers - Go On Then, Finish The Job

When you’ve done your mowing, the job isn’t complete until you’ve gone round the edge too. In fact a well mown lawn will still look scruffy if your edges don’t get done.

A good trimmer will be one item of lawn care equipment that will ‘ice the cake’ and if used wisely, will enhance even the best mown garden, creating a look of quality that is hard to surpass.

This is one piece of garden equipment where mechanization can be harder to handle that doing it by hand, but with a twist. A good edge trimmer will be used manually, but will not only be very effective, it will also save you time and your back!

Yes, you can get those electrical or petrol/gas powered ’strimmer’ type edge trimmers when you’re out buying your lawn care equipment, but for me, there is no better piece of kit than the odd looking shear type that you use with a sideways shuffle along your border. The trouble with strimmers is that they run so fast that it can be hard to control them.

Go for a good manual!

Like a Gentle Rain From Lawn Sprinkler Heaven

Last up in the key lawn care equipment that you will need to consider seriously when you are aiming for a great looking lawn, is a way to get it wet!

Having an effective sprinkler system in place will make a huge difference when you are looking at hot, thirsty summers. Could you imagine watering your whole lawn with a watering can?

No, I thought not.

Sprinklers come in a number of different arrangements. Some, which might be best of you want as little involvement as possible, will be built into your lawn and come on with a timer system, popping-up without warning - so watch out!

For a small lawn, at the other end of the spectrum, are simple movable sprinklers that you attach your hose to and move around. Takes your time and effort, but for a small lawn that might be a completely acceptable solution.

Whatever you decide on, make sure that before you buy, you understand what it is you want and then double-check that it will meet your expectations. Coverage, water volume, cost and time-saving are all worth covering before your trip to the garden center.

If you get yourself these three pieces of lawn care equipment to deal with these key lawn maintenance issues, you will really have sorted out most of the problems you might find.

Use these as well as you can and, before you know it, you will be sitting out there, cool drink in hand, admiring a beautiful lawn, produced, by you, with minimal effort!

Throughout history wind chimes have been used for a variety of uses. According to ancient folklore, hanging windchimes over your doorway would keep evil spirits away. Today, homeowners can keep negative energy at bay as well as add visual charm to their surroundings while relaxing to the soothing sounds of a wind chime garden.

A wind chime garden can be easily and simply created in any size surrounding. Whether you live out in the country and have extensive space in which to ply your creativity or you live in a smaller area, you can create your own personal and unique wind chime garden.

To enhance the mood, Feng Shui suggesting hanging your chimes in northwestern areas located near archways or statues. Select a location that will not interfere with the mood you wish to set in order to receive the maximum benefits. Whether you are looking to compliment an area or enhance other elements that already exist, wind chimes are an excellent way to relax and unwind.

When hung outside, wind chimes can provide a wonderful addition to any landscape. In a flower garden, they provide a welcome enhancement to water features as well as accessorizing walkways and entry ways. For a soothing and relaxing way to enjoy the outdoors, there is virtually no limit to the ways in which you can enhance your outdoor living areas with wind chimes.

If you happen to enjoy integrating sound into your outdoors, the idea of creating a windchime garden might be very appealing. Set your already beautiful view to music by carefully selecting a variety of wind chimes to compliment your garden area. Your wind chime garden can envelop your entire back yard or may be limited to a small area within your landscape, depending on your preference. The true beauty of a wind chime garden is that you can design it according to your own wishes and desires. Select the placement, tone and style of wind chimes that appeals most to you.

One way to implement a wind chime garden into your outdoor living area might be to selectively place wind chimes throughout the yard. Pay close attention to the patterns and direction of wind when placing the chimes and you will be able to create your own whimsical and soothing outdoor concert.

Ideally, it is best to choose chimes that are simple in order to avoid any potential clashes in style. Simple, basic wind chimes will blend effortlessly regardless of where they are placed. Some of the most simple designs produce the purest sounds while providing a visually appealing garden of whimsy.

If you happen to have more eclectic taste; however, feel free to choose a variety of wind chimes that are just as eclectic as your taste and will provide conversation pieces as well as soothing music.

You might also consider hanging your chimes at different heights. Hang a set of chimes on your deck, while placing another set among the flowers and even another set in the tree line. As the breeze blows across your yard, you will be serenaded with beautiful sounds.

To make your wind chime garden even more visually appealing, consider hanging your chimes directly within your line of sight. By handing them in carefully selected locations where they will catch the sun as it rises in the morning and sets at night, you will tremendously increase the beauty of your garden area.

A wind chime garden produces a number of benefits; including visual and auditory. Not only will you be able to enjoy the beauty of your chimes but their peaceful harmony can also actually cut down on external noises around your property. This can be particularly helpful if you live in an area where there is significant traffic noise. By mingling your chimes with tall flowers you can effectively create a sound barrier to block out all of that irritating noise.

Why not incorporate smell and even touch into your wind chime garden as well? Add some comfortable seating to create an outdoor room. Place your garden near the main seating area to provide soothing background music while you entertain or simply gaze up at the stars. Introduce elements along with your chimes into your garden, which will arouse the senses. By lighting a large candle or burning a fire in an outdoor fire pit, you can create a romantic atmosphere that will be relaxing and intriguing.

Regardless of how you choose to design your wind chime garden you will be sure to benefit from the myriad of advantages it provides. Perhaps the best part of designing a wind chime garden is that you can choose to make it as unique as your own personal style. Illuminate your own personality using the sounds, sights and scents of nature. Wind chimes provide the perfect personal tool to get started.

There is nothing more beautiful than flowers in bloom arranged artfully in a delicate, crystal vase. Do you want to learn how to make those kinds of flower arrangements that often get featured on TV or magazines?

There are no hard and fast rules, but there are steps that you can take in order to create your own beautiful flower arrangements that you can be proud of.

Tip #1: Use Your Instincts
Rules? Forget the rules! There is an artist in every one of us. Some are just dormant and sleeping, waiting for you to come wake it up. What better time than now? And the great thing about flower arrangements is that it takes so little from you to make them look beautiful. After all, flowers are things of beauty on their own.

Instead, trust your instincts. Let your eyes be your guide. Just pay attention and you will instantly know which flower arrangements are more pleasing to the eyes.

Tip #2: Cluster Small Flowers in Groups
It’s far from the rule of thumb, but you can never go wrong if you do this. Have you noticed how small flowers tend to disappear when placed in large flower arrangements? With all these large and more assertive blooms around them, the small flowers get overwhelmed. Moreover, they are also harder to grab and reposition.

By grouping smaller flowers together, it would be easier for you handle them and give your flower arrangements a more distinctive impression. You can do this by putting them close to each other or bundling them together with the use of a ribbon, rubber bands, floral wire, or floral tape.

Tip #3: On Single Blooms
Another common arrangement that people often resort to is a lone rose in a bud vase. While single bloom types of flower arrangements are always elegant, experiment with this method and add your own style. You can, for instance, make several single bloom flower arrangements positioned in several parts of the house – from small blooms inside wine glasses or tea cups to large blooms in bowls. That way, the lone rose in a bud vase can look even more distinctive in a room full of different flower arrangements.

Tip #4: Use the Right Container
If you must follow one rule, this is it: use containers that match the type of flower arrangements. The good news is that most flower arrangements are unique. So match them up with unique containers as well.

You do not have to arrange your flowers in a typical vase. If you feel that your blooms look prettier in a different container, then do so. You can even use bottles, smaller vases, tea cups, wine glasses – the works. And the overall effect would be a refreshing look to your flower arrangements.

Skeptics scoff and laugh at those of us who start home businesses. I wish I had a dollar for every person who said to me, “That won’t work. It’s a scam or it won’t last.” I’d have more money than Oprah. Sure there are scams out there but should you let therm stop you? I’ve eaten more than a few bad meals in my day but that didn’t stop me from eating!

There are plenty of home based businesses that are legitimate and honest and these businesses can change your life forever! It took a few times to find the right one for our family, but when we did we knew it right away.

After we got rolling we decided to home school our kids and take a great vacation since they had basically never been anywhere other than to their grandparents house on summer break. We took a month long vacation to Arizona. We sat by the pool everyday and did math and history. Because we put in the work in the beginning of our business we were able to stay on vacation for as long as we wanted… literally. One month rolled into the next and since we didn’t own a traditional business we had the money and the time freedom to keep on traveling and enjoying life. Our family got to spend more time together than any other family I know.

Keep in mind that we had to work hard to grow our home business but once we had achieved success it was easy to work a little and play a lot. Over the years we have been on many more wonderful vacations. We took our children to see the shuttle launch when John Glenn went back up into space. We spent 2 1/2 years out in Los Angeles while our kids tried their hand at acting. As the kids got older my wife and I began to take trips without the kids and do things that we as a couple truly enjoy.

It gives us great pleasure to be able to not only do things that we want to do, but also to be able to make others dreams come true. One of the most memorable things we’ve done is a 7 week vacation covering 18 states and 2 Canadian provinces. It was different from most vacations because we took my parents with us for almost 3 weeks. My father had always wanted to see a Broadway Show in New York, and we made his dream come true. We saw the Pro Football Hall of Fame, The Baseball Hall of Fame and did more than our share of shopping with my wife and mother.

We took my mother-in-law on a trip so she could do something that she had always wanted to do. Nobody knew that she had wanted to go to the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, and at the age of 73 she went up in a hot air balloon for the very first time.

You may be thinking, “All this stuff sounds great, but that’s not what I would do if I had both the time and the money.” One of the most exciting things about owning your own home based business is setting your own personal and financial goals. It’s strictly up to you how much money you make and how hard you work and even what hours you work.

Starting a home based business isn’t easy at first, but it is totally worth it. Just think about what YOU would be doing if you had your choice to go anywhere you want to go and stay there as long as you want to. If you want what you’ve never had, you must be willing to do what you’ve never done. Go out there and find the home business that is right for you. Don’t listen to the naysayers, work hard and it will definitely be worth it!

Most people never think that young money is ever possible. Often the reason for this is that at this critical stage of a person’s life they need to choose a career. They start university and create a lot of debt in the form of student loans. Only to find out after they finished their education in most cases they will find a job that is very stressful. If you were anything like me at this age I was always looking for a business that I could succeed at as I was never satisfied with working for someone else.

Unfortunately at that stage of my life I never found a business that I liked. Most of the businesses that I researched required you to be in an office or stuck in a shop like a franchise. To me that was when I discovered the internet and immediately realized that this was the kind of business that I would enjoy. You had a choice in terms of your lifestyle. You get to work the hours that suit you and you can work from a laptop anywhere.

A very easy way to earn extra money when you are young is to participate in paid surveys. The way that this works is that there are many companies out there that are willing to pay for market research. You will use your spare time to fill out these surveys and earn extra cash. You can easily make a few hundred dollars doing this. You can look for free survey sites on Google or you can pay to use a survey database.

Once you are making money from this you can use this money to finance your business. You need to look for a niche market that you are knowledgeable on. You then can decide whether you are going to sell a physical product or a downloadable product. After doing this you need to learn how to market your web site on the internet so that you can start earning money. Create a squeeze page so that you can capture your subscriber’s name and email address. Then you market to them over and over again using an autoresponder. Those are the basics steps that are required to create a successful internet business. However you should also have an entrepreneurial mindset as this is also a key ingredient to create wealth at any age.

There will be a learning curve along the way, but this becomes simpler once you get going. In fact I think it actually is easier for young people to create wealth this way as they usually are more computer literate than most older people.
