Solar Lighting To Extend Your Time Outdoors

When it starts to get dark many of us are driven inside from our porches, patios or decks. You don’t’ have too with outdoor lighting that can lengthen the day and dramatically extend the potential of our outdoor living spaces. Adding solar lighting can make it even easier.

Adding any outdoor lighting does require some planning. The first step with any project asking yourself how do you want to use your space after dark and what type of lighting will you need.

The next step will be to do a rough layout of what you want to light up. It may be a walkway, a fountain, a flower be, a fences or even your house. There are virtually lights for every application.

After you’ve done some of your homework, now you are ready to shop for the lights. The beauty of choosing solar lights is that you can go to your nearby store that sells them, buy them and install them all in one day. No need to call a contractor, get estimates, pull permits and have inspections of the work when it’s done. Its also great because you can move the lights around if the mood suits you.

So now, you have your lights. Pull them out of the boxes, place them in their respective areas you think you’d like lights and wait till dark. Since the lights run on rechargeable batteries, they may not give off the brightest of lights initially since they may have been in storage for a while. If that happens, give them a day or two to recharge from the sun.

The main point to consider is that these are solar lights and the batteries need to be charged by the sun so they should be positioned to at least have some direct sun throughout the day. If they are placed in shaded areas they may not fully charge during the day.

So now you have your lights in place, sit back and enjoy. If something isn’t quite right about them, move them. Solar Lights are the easiest form of lighting there is. They are meant to be enjoyed night after night.

Jerome Sturgeleski started a website in May of 2005 when he decided to share his passion for enjoying his yard after hours. He thought that if his newly renovated landscaping project could be lighted after dark it would be enjoyable even in evening hours. He started small and is now offering many different types of solar lighting that would fit in in any number of applications.
