Why is it that when you buy a house, Home Depot (HD) becomes the center of your universe? It seems that you can’t go one week without stopping by the HD to fix up your dwelling. Maybe a screw has come loose or we need to put a shelf up for the items we just had to buy to fill up our new space.
I have to tell you, the HD has to be one of the most stressful stores on the planet for me. Not only do I immediately think of the insane inventory costs that they must incur (this was ingrained into me in MBA school), but I also start wondering how many different nail types can there be? And who knows what all of them are used for?
I have nightmares about being a HD associate and someone coming up to me asking which nail they need to use for a job. Pure fear envelops me because I have absolutely no clue how to answer their question. I search for someone to help them but there’s no one…just little-old ignorant me. And then I end up on a California beach somewhere with a smile on my face…strange how dreams work out like that.
Anyway, enough of my crazy HD nightmares. If you’re one of those handy people who can make a fan out of a light-bulb, hats off to you. The skills you have are probably more useful than any computer program I could ever build because if the electric was turned off one day I’d be completely useless and looking to you to make that fan.
